With the country
in turmoil and the weather reflecting events, escape the
gloom at Seven tonight,Thursday
30 June, 8pm, Seven Jazz
presents John Etheridge and Vimila Rowe for an
evening of passion and soul. John Etheridge has played with just
about everyone in jazz, from jazz rockers, Soft Machine through to the
Hot Club of France violinist, Stefan Grapelli. John will play some of
his celebrated solo set and then is joined by Vimala for an
intimate guitar /vocal duo, featuring a repertoire drawn from sources
across the world. With support from The Jazz Voices Choir 8.00pm. £16 / £14 conc. Doors 7.30pm.
On Friday 1 July,
8pm, look forward to A Conversation with Reg Hall
– Irish Traditional Music in London from the 1940s. From
1956 Reg Hall played with all the great Irish players in London pubs.
Tonight he will talk about the characters and events of the
times, play some rare recordings and show some great images
of the music scene in that era. FREE

On Saturday 2 July,
7pm, Funoon Assila presents
Festival Of Dance Show, a performance of an array of
different dance styles from the Middle East and beyond. World
famous Assala Ibrahim will perform Raqs Qawliya ( Iraqi Gypsy dance )
together with Angela Noble, Nawarra and Beverley Smith, all UK
based teachers. £10

8pm, it is Jenni Noyes Debut Album
Launch. Singer-songwriter Jenni Noyes creates a cinematic
sound exploring the rich darkness & vibrant light deep within our
human being. Her songs shine a feminine radiance on the stories in life
we all share. With support from Miranda Arieh, Vicky Whelan (of
Dragonfly Tattoo), Fran Wyburn and Lisa Marie Glover. £5. Doors 7pm.
Rounding off the week, on Saturday
8 July, 7.30pm, a real treat for lovers of Spanish
dance, Flamenco at Seven – Jero
Ferec, Magdalena Manion and Ana Brenes Dancer, Magdalena
Mannion, has studied contemporary dance at Merce Cunningham Studios,
New York; singer, Ana Brenes, is a skilled and captivating performer
with an authentic approach to the “cante”, and Jero Ferec has
international acclaim and performed across the world on guitar. £13.
