Ian C Douglas and Lauren Quick events at Cleckheaton Literature Festival 2015

Cleckheaton Literature Festival have announced another two fabulous events at their Literature Festival this year, full details below:

Sunday 10 May 1-3pm Brave New Worlds: Creative Writing workshop for Science Fiction with sci-fi writer Ian C Douglas at Cleckheaton Library

 

If you write Sci-fi, at some point you might need your own world. It could be another Tatooine, Pandora or Gallifrey. But it's not that easy. Can you avoid info-dumping? How to achieve internal consistency? What to do to make your imaginary world outstanding? Ian C Douglas, science fiction author and short story writer, will look at building consistent worlds, pitfalls and tricks to weaving back-story into narrative without losing the plot.

Thursday 7 May 7.30pm, Cleckheaton Library, Lauren Owen, author of 'The Quick.'  Lauren, whose novel 'The Quick' has been described as: 'An astonishing debut, a novel of epic scope and suspense that conjures up all the magic and menace of Victorian London, a fantastical world that is both beguiling and terrifying. The Quick will establish her as one of fiction’s most dazzling talents.'  The event is suitable for adults and young adults.
