Cleckheaton Literature Festival Horatio Clare

Cleckheaton Literature Festival have just announced two more events taking place in May:



Friday 8 May JUSTINA ROBSON 1-3pm Cleckheaton Library

Sci-Fi/Fantasy Creative Writing Workshop with Justina Robson on Friday 8 May 1-3pm at Cleckheaton Library. Ever wanted to write a fantasy/sci-fi story and not known where to start? Should your idea be a short story or a novel? Now is your chance to find out, by joining local science fiction/fantasy writer Justina Robson in her 'How To' workshop. Nominated for several major awards and author of nine novels..., including the Quantum Gravity series, Natural History, Living Next Door to the God of Love, a collection of short stories and a transformers book, Justina has all the right tools to get you started.



Sunday 10 May 2015 HORATIO CLARE 3.3-5.30pm at Cleckheaton Library

Horatio Clare is the author of two memoirs, the best-selling Running for the Hills and Truant; the travel book A Single Swallow - which follows the birds' migration from South Africa to the UK - and a novella, one of the New Tales from the Mabinogion, The Prince's Pen. His latest book is Down to the Sea In Ships, based on voyages around the world on cargo vessels. Currently the Miriam Allott Fellow for Creative Writing at the University of Liverpool, he writes regularly in the press on nature and travel and contributes to Radio 4. Horatio is a winner of the Somerset Maugham prize, and Foreign Press Association Travel Writer of the Year. He will be talking about ancient oceans, modern seafarers, and the great cargo ships upon which the world as we know it depends.
