Upcoming at the West Yorkshire Playhouse

For those of my followers who live in or near to Leeds, here are the details for upcoming shows at the West Yorkshire Playhouse:

Box Office: 0113 213 7700
A fresh look at Uncle Vanya, Mermaid and a Rugby Legend
The Quarry theatre has been transformed into an epic, telegraph pole forest as Uncle Vanya attempts to make his mark on the world, with darkly comic results. And as we look ahead to March a rugby legend is being true to himself in Crouch, Touch, Pause, Engage and in an adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's tale, Mermaid shares his outlook on life.
A Fresh Adaptation of Uncle Vanya
★★★★ The Yorkshire Post
★★★★★ The Public Reviews
A family laugh, bicker and knock back the vodka as they bemoan their rural life. But for Vanya, a flicker of hope remains in the eyes of a beautiful woman. Funny and tragic, this new Uncle Vanya is not to be missed.
Now until 21 March.
Last chance to catch Boi Boi is Dead
The Yorkshire Post  ★★★★ The Stage
★★★★ The Observer
With two days to go, don’t miss the critically acclaimed Boi Boi is Dead. With tickets from £12 catch this ‘…gripping, humorous, poetic and finely acted’ (The Observer) production by Leeds writer Zodwa Nyoni in its last 2 performances before it transfers to London. Until 7 March.
Mermaid from Shared Experience
Told by the remarkable Shared Experience, Mermaid is a powerful re-interpretation of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic story, the Little Mermaid. Falling in love with a mortal prince she knows that she can no longer live at the bottom of the ocean, but must she destroy herself in order to be loved?
25 – 28 March.
Crouch, Touch, Pause, Engage
In the story of rugby legend Gareth Thomas, Out of Joint and Theatre Clwyd have created a great play about politics, secrets, life and learning to be yourself. This critically acclaimed show touches down from
