Jamie's Italian restaurant, Harrogate

One of my freelance part-time writing jobs is for AA Office Group who are based at Windsor House in Harrogate and to celebrate the launch of their new Work Furniture website, for which I have written the copy, the staff went for lunch today at the new Jamie’s Italian in Harrogate.

We started off the celebration with a round of drinks, a glass of Liberta, some shandies made with Moretti beer and a jug of ice-cold water (pictured above).  Of the four of us that had starters, two of us had the meat planks (fennel salami, pistachio mortadella, prosciutto and schiacciata piccante) and one the grilled asparagus bruschetta (with lemony mozzarella & smashed minty peas) and a crab and avocado bruschetta (sourdough, fresh crab & avocado with apple, chilli, mint & lemon), all pictured below:

For main course, we ordered a honeycomb cannelloni trio (aubergine & sun-dried tomato, pumpkin, ricotta and spinach), their famous prawn linguine (fried garlicky prawns, fennel, tomatoes, chilli & rocket), a squid and mussel spaghetti (pasta nero with flash-fried squid, mussels, octopus, capers, white wine & parsely), a margherita pizza and one of the daily specials, scallop risotto with chilli and vegetables (the scallops melted in the mouth and the vegetables had a satisfying crunch):

For dessert, two of us ordered ice cream (one had chocolate, honeycomb and vanilla with crushed nuts & seeds & seasonal fruits and one had chocolate, honeycomb and salted caramel ice cream with smashed honeycomb & nuts & seeds), two had the epic homemade brownie (freshly baked warm fudgy brownie with salted caramel ice cream & caramelised amaretti popcorn) and one the raspberry & chocolate-rippled pavlova (cream, peppered raspberries & smashed honeycomb with a drizzle of dark chocolate):

The service was attentive and friendly and the food was amazing, and with an afternoon of glorious sunshine to have it in, it could not have been more perfect.  Rumour has it that the man himself, Jamie Oliver, may be attending the VIP opening on Sunday and we highly recommend a visit as soon as possible.
