British Red Cross writing competition, 18 July deadline

The theme for this 500 word writing competition is 'Searching' and full details can be found below:

Creative writing competition

The International Day of the Disappeared (30 August) commemorates people who have gone missing in situations of violence and armed conflict. The Red Cross works every day to restore contact between separated family members.
Now you can help give a voice to the thousands of missing people throughout the world by entering our creative writing competition.

Competition rules

  1. The theme of the competition is ‘Searching’.
  2. All entries – whether stories or poems – should be no more than 500 words.
  3. There are two categories: adult and young (aged 16 or below on 30 August 2014).
  4. The closing date is Friday 18 July. The winning entry will be announced on 30 August 2014.


Prizes and judging

The winning entries in each category will receive a £100 Amazon gift voucher. Two runners-up in each category will receive a £50 Amazon gift voucher.
Entries will be judged by a small panel of judges. Further information available shortly.
