Mestisa presents ‘Latin America – A Melting Pot of Rhythms’ also on Saturday 25th October 7.30pm. Leeds’s favourite Latin ensemble ‘Mestisa’ play stunning melodies and rhythms. For this special event, Mestisa will explore Zamacueca, Cumbia, Lando, Milonga; and other rhythms born out of the collision of culture brought on by voluntary and forced migration to a continent with its own rich cultural heritage. Seven Venue. £12.50 adv /£15 on the door.

Paper People: Come along and get creative!

28 - 31 October, 11am-3pm

Central Court at Leeds Art Gallery

Come along and celebrate 25 years of The Big Draw this half term at the gallery. 

This collaborative art project invites families to use the human body to fill a whole room with a community of mysterious human-like paper sculptures!

Drop-in across the week and have a go at wrapping family members in huge pieces of paper and using charcoal, conti crayon, and thick pencils to mark the creases that form, representing the shape and scale of being human. Families will have a chance to explore and be creative together.

This activity is part of the Big Draw Festival, a global celebration of drawing and creativity throughout October 2025.

Go behind the scenes of our collection at the Hawking Building

On Wednesday 29 October at 11.00, we'll be releasing our next set of tickets for Public Guided Tours of the Hawking Building, our unique collection space at the Science and Innovation Park. These tours will take place on 14, 21 and 28 November 2025.

Led by one of our expert tour guides, you'll see hundreds of remarkable objects up close, from game-changing transport vehicles to science fiction icons.

Over the weekend our incredible BFI London Film Festival screenings concluded with brilliant crowds for special previews of some of the world's best new films. Let us take you back into the STONE age as Rolling Stones - At the Max returns to the big screen. 

The very first concert movie to ever be filmed for IMAX, revisit the iconic band at their 1990 Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tour. 

This history making production utilized 8 IMAX film cameras shooting on 65mm film. What resulted was a music experience the world had yet to see and screened in our own IMAX way back in the early 90s.

This is a fun sensory event for SEND children. No need to play an instrument,  children will literally be ‘making music’ perhaps through arts and crafts, movement, and other exploratory sounds. Run by musician and former librarian Andy Wright, who has experience working alongside SEND children, we expect this event to be a huge success. Please book as spaces are limited.
