Events and What's On across the Bradford district110 years of Bolling Hall Until Sunday, 22 February at Bolling Hall FREE As Bolling Hall Museum reaches 110 years of being a museum after opening in September 1915, come and see some new displays celebrating this. Photo panels on easels in various rooms show Bolling Hall when the Tankard family lived there in the 1870s – 1880s, and during its restoration into a museum from 1912 – 1915. There is also a small display in the Housebody showing objects linked to Bolling Hall, such as a sword discovered under an attic room’s floorboards, a book found in the garderobe and the ceremonial key used in the museum’s opening ceremony in 1915. Turner Prize 2025 Until Sunday, 22 February FREE The world’s most exciting visual arts prize is coming to Bradford for the first time. The Turner Prize is one of the world’s best-known prizes for the visual arts. It aims to promote public debate around new developments in contemporary British art. The prize is awarded each year to a British artist, and is named in honour of the radical painter JMW Turner. The shortlisted artists – Nnena Kalu, Rene Matić, Mohammed Sami and Zadie Xa – were announced on 23 April 2025. Their work will feature in the annual Turner Prize exhibition, which takes place at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery. The winner will be announced in Bradford on 9 December 2025. On Thursday, 9 October (6pm - 9pm) visitors can come along to one of our Turner Lates. Expect DJs, live music, fashion, food, creative workshops and more, alongside the chance to explore the Turner Prize exhibition after hours. Black History Month Until Friday, 31 October across the district Wednesday, 1 October marked the start of this year's Black History Month. This October, we proudly present a dynamic and inclusive programme of events for Black History Month 2025 – a celebration of heritage, creativity, and community. Join us as we honour the achievements, culture, and contributions of the Black community across generations. Events at Darley Street Market Here's what's happening at Darley Street Market: - Introduction to lacto fermentation (Friday, 3 October | 10am - 12pm) - Join Plenty at the Square for a hands-on workshop exploring the ancient art of lacto fermentation. Learn how to harness natural bacteria to create flavourful, healthy foods like sauerkraut and kimchi, while discovering techniques to reduce food waste through preserving, pickling, and drying.
- Kombucha Masterclass (Friday, 3 October | 12.30pm - 2.30pm) - Discover the art of fermentation in this hands-on Kombucha Masterclass led by Plenty at the Square. Learn about the history and process of brewing kombucha, and make your own batch to take home. This workshop is part of a weekly series at Darley Street Market focused on sustainable food practices, including preserving, pickling, and using the whole vegetable to reduce waste.

Frederic Cliffe: Bradford's Forgotten Composer Sunday, 12 October at St Mary's Church FREE A unique musical event celebrating the story and songs of a briefly famous, but little remembered, Bradford-born composer. In 1889, Frederic Cliffe rose to overnight fame when his first symphony was a sensational success. But just a few years later, despite writing several popular songs and featuring at the Proms, he had disappeared into obscurity. His songs have lain unsung for over 100 years. But now, following new research by a local amateur musician, they will be heard in public once more at this unique musical event - at the church where he began his musical career.
