Everybody’s reading more
thanks to lockdown, according to Bloomsbury which has seen soaring
sales, so we’ve pulled together the C&TH reading list with
contributions from our editors. Do write and let me know if you have
any favourites and we’ll add them in. Other reasons for me to be
cheerful include putting in a monthly date to go to an art gallery.
I walked the permanent collection of Tate Britain last
week, probably one of the nicest (emptiest!) gallery experiences I’ve
had for a while. Book your slots; you’ll miss it when the crowds come
back (and they will).
Have a great week.

WHAT’S

FLUFFY SLIPPERS
When Molly Goddard’s models
walked the catwalk in Uggs (what a cool collaboration), I heaved a
huge sigh of relief. I’ve loved those ugly Australian boots ever
since they became a thing in the 2000s. And now that we’re home more
and winter’s here, finally the fluffy slipper can have its moment
once more. I’ve picked my favourites here.

KITCHEN SUPPERS – MICHELIN
STYLE
If we can’t go to the
restaurant, then the restaurant can come to you. But we’re not
talking just takeaways; oh no, we’re talking beautifully curated,
packaged and presented dishes to cook (with absolute minimum fuss)
from favourite restaurants such as Bocca di Lupo.
There’s also Wild Radish,
a brilliant chef-led recipe box subscription. Dishes even come paired
with a decent bottle of wine. Switch off the telly and sit down at
the table to eat though – these dishes deserve it.

JO MALONE'S CAR SPRAY
When I heard that the
perfume behemoth Jo Malone was launching a
car diffuser, I squealed with joy. My children have been complaining
of feeling nauseous every time they get in our dog-haired, slightly
noxious smelling vehicle. Those terrible scent trees from the petrol
station do little to mask it, but I know if we have my favourite
Lime, Basil & Mandarin wafting around the inside, we’ll all be
singing along happily to Taylor Swift before we know it.
