Save the Date for the More
Culture, Less Medicine Conference taking place online
from Monday
23 November – Thursday 26 November 2020.
Creative Future is part of The Hera Partnership. Alongside
the other partners; The Robin Hood Health Foundation, Diversity
and Ability & The Old Market, we will be presenting 'The Big
Vision' - creating a shared vision for Brighton and Hove on
Wednesday 25 November.
Despite rapid advances in healthcare we are living more years
with health conditions - and can’t treat our way out of this
crisis. There is a growing base of evidence that the arts can
have a positive impact on health and wellbeing at all stages of
life.
This conference explores some of the developments within this
field, hears from some key people involved in researching &
delivering opportunities, and also gives attendees the chance to
take part in some of the innovative arts practice on offer.
The conference will take the form of a series of bite-sized morning
sessions, 10 am - 12 pm every day, via zoom.
Each event will include cross-sector speakers and
presentations, showcasing diverse and high-quality practice, and
open discussion.
The sessions are FREE
to book via Eventbrite links below.
Each day will be themed, as follows:
- Monday 23 'The Big
Picture' - considering the international, national, and
local context and the latest research findings. BOOK DAY 1 HERE
- Tuesday 24 'The Big Challenges'
- tackling inequalities and finding opportunities. BOOK DAY 2 HERE
- Wednesday 25 'The Big
Vision' - creating a shared vision for Brighton and Hove
(this session will be led by the HERA Partnership) BOOK DAY 3 HERE

Join us for a celebratory evening in which 12
extraordinary writers emerge into the limelight.
Our digital showcase features highlights and
readings from the Creative Future Writers' Awards, a development programme that
includes the UK’s only national writing prize for all
underrepresented writers, those whose opportunities have been
limited due to disability, physical and/or mental health issues,
identity, or other social circumstance.
The showcase was due to be
held at the Southbank as part of the London Literature Festival, but
due to the current COVID-19 restrictions this year we are doing
things a little differently.
Our showcase is hosted by poet and spoken word
artist Joelle Taylor, featuring
acclaimed author Kerry Hudson (Lowborn),
poet Anthony Anaxagorou (After
the Formalities), poet Sarala Estruch, and our
2020 Writer In Residence, Akila Richards.
Please join us to hear powerful short stories and
poems reflecting on the theme of TOMORROW from
these talented new voices.

Tickets are free, as we’re committed to ensuring wide access to
all. However, we are a small charity meeting the challenges of
our current situation. We really need your support to make up for
the book sales and donations we usually get at this annual event.

The
showcase celebrates the launch of our 2020 anthology, TOMORROW,
featuring all twelve winners and guest writers/judges Kerry Hudson,
Anthony Anaxagorou, Sarala Estruch, and Akila Richards.
