Thanks to Country and Townhouse and All Events, here are some ideas of things to do this week in London and Leeds:
The eco-deodorant that actually works, and where to
get your al fresco comedy fix in the capital

I’m pretty pleased not to be enduring the school exams
debacle this week. Those days are far behind me. But if you or your
children’s stress levels are high right now, let us divert you with
our pick of the best things to do this week. Plus, we’re loving
tablecloths from Alice Temperley, Michelin starred BBQs in the
backyard (real life chef included) and Lynn Barber’s interview
techniques.
Have a great week.

FIVE THINGS
YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS
|
|
Sip on minimal intervention wines from artisan
producers at Silo x Wine Bar,
the new project from zero-waste chef Douglas McMaster. You’ll find it
in The White Building at CRATE, Hackney Wick.

Book tickets for the UK premiere of C-o-n-t-a-c-t, a new immersive outdoor
performance featuring a 3D sound experience which audiences will
listen to on their own headphones. 31 August – 10 October
|
|
Book a stay at the idyllic Fairmont St Andrews
in Scotland to experience their new ‘Space’ programme, which
includes cocktails in yurts, coastal path walks and beekeeping
workshops.
|
|
Take a trip to al fresco pop-up JOY,
recently opened at Portobello Dock. Eat at outdoor restaurant FLORA,
pick up fresh produce and check out the bee-friendly garden of
1,000 dahlias.
|
|
We could all do with a bit of comic relief at the
moment – and luckily Bussey Rooftop Bar
in Peckham is here to help with its new outdoor comedy nights.
Ed Gamble and Simon Amstell are set to perform, among
others. 23 and 31 August

WHAT’S
GETTING US THROUGH THE WEEK
|
|
ALICE TEMPERLEY’S HOMEWARE COLLECTION
If a Temperley dress is out of reach, the queen of
boho chic has entered the homeware market
with a curated collection of cushions, tablecloths and throws, all
reimagined in satin and velvets with her trademark archive prints and
hand embroidery.

AKT DEODORANT
We salute brands – especially British ones – who get
it right on the sustainability front, but extra kudos to AKT, because we have been
searching high and low for an eco-deodorant that actually works. Its
credentials are impeachable – and the packaging is spot on too.
|
|
FOUR ELEMENTS HOTEL, AMSTERDAM
All hail the world’s first fully sustainable, energy neutral hotel,
which opened this summer. In fact, this Amsterdam hotspot has so many
firsts it would be impossible to list them all here. When quarantine
lifts, this is where we’ll be heading – by Eurostar, of course.

TOP RESTAURANT DELIVERY KITS
Missing your favourite restaurant dishes? Whether
you’ve a penchant for Neapolitans from Pizza Pilgrims, Dirty
Burgers from Mac & Wild or chicken curry from Kricket,
restaurants have made it so easy to make at home with their clever DIY kits.
