Creative Kirklees Newsletter 9 December 2015

For those of you who still have Christmas shopping to do or want to do something Christmassy there is plenty to take your pick from on Creative Kirklees over the next few weeks.  Whether it’s the theatre or a concert, a sing-song or art fair there’s always lots on offer at this time of year.  We've tried to include as much as we can in the newsletter this week, but take a browse through the What’s On section to see all the local, creative events on offer.

Throughout the year many people, groups and organisation run events but do you know how to make sure your event is safe and well organised?  The Creative Economy Team has organised a series of FREE training sessions for Kirklees-based event organisers, community groups and organisations, who organise events such as festivals, galas, parades and music events in outdoor or non-traditional spaces and/or where the expected audience is more than 500.  However, some sessions, such as Basic Event Planning, Fundraising & Sponsorship and Marketing & Audience Development are also suitable for organisers of smaller events or those relatively new to event organising.   Covering areas such as Event Planning, Licencing, Health & Safety, Fundraising and Marketing this training is a must if you want to refresh your knowledge or make sure others running your event are kept up-to-date.
Welcome to our newest profile on Creative Kirklees – Orangewood.  Set up by Phil Russell (formally CEO at Hoot) and Graham Browning the aim of Orangewood is to "offer bespoke support to creative and third sector organisations through supervision and mentoring of leaders and artists, specialist team development and training, and general consultancy around business development and sustainability. We are interested in getting under the skin of repetitive and intractable issues that affect people and organisations in arts and third sector organisations through adopting a psychologically informed perspective, and working with people to develop imaginative and creative solutions".  Sounds interesting – take a look at their profile and find out more.
