Creative Kirklees Newsletter 2 December 2015

This week’s newsletter has been put together by our guest editor Elise Rohde who has been co-ordinating publicity for the Huddersfield Hat festival.

Hello,
I am very pleased to bring you this week’s newsletter and would like to highlight some of the brilliant creative events taking place across Kirklees this week.
This weekend sees the second ever Huddersfield Hat festival, a three day celebration of Huddersfield’s artists and venues!  With 29 events in 17 venues, there’s a whole host of events to watch, listen to and take part in and many of them are free!
Amongst the many things on offer you can enjoy some coffee tasting with music at Bates Mill, ceramic exhibitions in Lindley, poetry and live music from Stems in the Byram Arcade, a swimming machine display at the Art Gallery, choirs in Greenhead Park, singing workshops with Hoot, seasonal wreath making in the Packhorse Gallery, Nu Popes at Bar 1:22 and much, much more - there’s something for everyone!
Download the full weekend guide here.
Huddersfield Hat  (‘Hat’ is another way of saying ‘fringe festival’ as it refers to people passing the hat round for donations at free events) is a festival driven by the artists and venues of Huddersfield as all Hat events have been arranged by the participating artists and venues themselves.
It’s a testament to the creative people of Huddersfield that the festival has taken off with such energy and enthusiasm. Hats off to you all!
With such a variety of events this week I have highlighted just a few of the Huddersfield Hat ones, plus other events taking place across Kirklees.
Have a wonderful week celebrating Kirklees’ fabulous venues and it’s wealth of creative talent.
Elise
