Kingston University are delighted to announce the launch of two new short story competitions.
Kingston Writing School Hilary Mantel International Short Story Competition
We are honoured that the twice Man Booker Prize winning author, Hilary Mantel, will be judge for our first major international competition. Kingston Writing School are committed to celebrating excellence in the short story and will be looking for wonderfully written stories that push the boundaries of the short story form.
- First Prize £3000 and two Runners Up Prizes of £500
Kingston University Press Bonnie Greer Stories to Read Aloud Competition
Alongside our international short story competition, we are also excited to launch a local competition for Kingston residents and workers, and writers associated with the Writing School. The competition will celebrate stories that work when read aloud as well as on the page. It will be the first story competition to pick its final winners from live readings and we are thrilled that the distinguished award-winning writer, critic and Chancellor of Kingston University, Bonnie Greer, will be judge.
- First Prize £1000 and two Runners Up Prizes of £250
Both competitions are open for entries from May 1st to June 30th.
Winning stories and shortlisted stories will be published in two competition anthologies, and winning writers will have the opportunity to have their work considered for publication by Kingston University Press.
