I have recently signed up to receive the Butchers Dog newsletter and I thought my followers may be interested in seeing the latest one as it has details of a free poetry launch party in June (if you happen to live in or near Newcastle), information on a poetry workshop and how to submit to Butchers Dog:

WORKSHOP:
Moments of Epiphany
in
association with Apples and Snakes
2.30pm, 7 June 2014 at the Toffee
Factory
"I have never started a poem yet whose end I
knew. Writing a poem is discovering" - Robert
Frost
Many of the greatest poems seem to offer moments of epiphany, times
when - for better or worse - we see ourselves and the world around
us more clearly; when everything becomes that bit sharper.
In this workshop, we will look at a
selection of poems from Butcher's Dog 3 which reveal their truths,
sometimes as explosions, sometimes fires, and think about how we,
too, might use our lives in verse. The workshop will give us time
to share work, complete short writing exercises, and hopefully
leave with new poems brewing with secrets, sparks and epiphanies of
their own.
The workshop is led by BD3 editors Jake
Campbell and Amy Mackelden. Places are limited and priortity will
be given to people attending the launch.
Advanced booking is essential, to
reserve your place please contact degna@butchersdogmagazine.com.
Thanks to the wonderful people at Apples and Snakes
we are able to provide this workhsop free of charge.
