Mon 8 Apr 2013
Arvon, renowned for its five day residential creative writing courses, has launched its 2013 programme of courses
The weeks take place in writing houses set in inspiring countryside in West Yorkshire, Inverness-shire and North Devon, and include regular workshops, one-to-one tutorials with leading authors, and plenty of time and space to write.

There are over 60 courses, covering a range of genres including Fiction, Poetry, Theatre, Creative Non-Fiction, Writing for Children and many more. New courses this year include Writing for Puppetry, led by Handspring director Mervyn Millar and dramatist Nell Leyshon, and a Poetry & Bookart course with Poet Jen Hadfield and book-maker Rachel Hazell  exploring the relationship between nature and writing, featuring landscape artist Richard Long as guest.

Other tutors in 2013: Melvin Burgess, Carol Ann Duffy, Maggie Gee, Mark Haddon, Philip Hensher, Tobias Jones, Val McDermid, Daljit Nagra, Alice Oswald, Jacob Polley, Jo Shapcott, Lemn Sissay, Shawn Slovo and Laura Wade.

Grants are available to help with course fees.

I attended an Arvon residential as part of my MA Writing for Performance at the University of Huddersfield and I can highly recommend it.  It really helped me sort most of my play 'Bottle' in the week that I was there.
