On Thursday 31 May Square Chapel, Halifax will be hosting an
evening with ex-Poet Laureate Andrew Motion, who will introduce his new
novel ‘Silver – Return to Treasure Island’ a sequel to Robert
Louis Stevenson’s classic.
Andrew Motion was Poet Laureate from 1999 to 2009 and was knighted for
his services to literature in 2009. During the evening he will talk
about the responsibilities of this unique role and what it means to
him. This will be a one-off opportunity to ask questions, and
gain a unique insight into the process and approach of one of the UK’s
best known writers.
‘Silver’ is a playful sequel to ‘Treasure Island’ featuring
a cast of noble seamen, murderous pirates and tales of love, valour &
terrible cruelty.
He will also read from his latest book of poems, ‘The Cinder Path’
shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry.
Followed by book signing.
This event is a must for anyone with a passion for storytelling,
