Events and What's On across the Bradford DistrictPop Art Until Sunday, 28 March 2027 (10am - 4pm) at Cartwright Hall FREE Pop Art blasted onto the art scene during the 1950s and 60s. It reflected the growth of mass consumerism and advertising and was inspired by popular culture. A key factor was that it embraced new, cheaper methods in printmaking, which made art more accessible. Cartwright Hall’s story with Pop Art begins in 1968 when it created and staged the First British International Print Biennale. The exhibition was truly international in scope, and the most notable of its kind to showcase the importance of print as a post-war medium, staged anywhere in the UK.
