FREE: Amazon’s Kindle Storyteller Award Info Session

Tuesday 23 July 2026, 6pm - 7pm 

The Kindle Storyteller Award is a £20,000 literary prize recognising outstanding writing from self-published authors. It is open to writers publishing in English in any genre, who publish their work through Kindle Direct Publishing during the submission period. Celebrating its 10th anniversary of the UK Award, the winner is selected by readers and a panel of book industry expert judges.

Entries are open until 31st August 2026, so don’t miss out on this FREE online session with Jen Barrett, UK Kindle Direct Publishing Manager at Amazon. She’ll cover everything you need to know about entering, including eligibility, how to enter, prizes, and top tips. There will be time for Q&A so come with questions.


 
Brighton Book Festival 2026
17 - 21 June 2026

Brighton Book Festival 2026 is taking place this week! Established by a community where writers from underrepresented backgrounds are the main event and diverse audiences can see themselves reflected, the festival is a space that gathers together authors, poets, illustrators, musicians and other creatives from the UK and around the world for a book festival like no other.

This year will see a series of fantastic events both across Brighton and online globally, all happening during the UK’s Independent Bookshop Week.


 
Bad Betty Summer School

Bad Betty's online poetry courses will soon be underway, offering a safe, nurturing and playful space in which to expand your poetic practice, generate new work and develop existing drafts. Each course runs over 6 weekly evening sessions, and our open to all (discounted for East Midlands writers).

The 2026 course tutors are Antosh Wojcik and Creative Future Writer In Residence, Jess Murrain.

Jess Murrains’ course: Unmask Me: Neuroqueer Poetics on Love will run on Monday evenings from 29th June.

Antosh Wojcik’s course, The Poem Hinges on the Image! takes place on Wednesday evenings from 8th July.


 
Bloomsbury Academic Writing Fellowship 2026

Bloomsbury and Writers & Artists are delighted to announce the return of the Bloomsbury Academic Writing Fellowship, supporting early career academics to get their book idea into a form which is ready for publication.

Applications are open to UK-based, up-and-coming authors and researchers who identify as Black, Asian or Ethnically Diverse (BAED). The recipient of the Bloomsbury Fellowship will receive a package of creative support throughout 2027. This will include editorial support and mentorship for one year, £1,000 of financial support, practical resources, £250 worth of books from Bloomsbury Academic, plus event and networking opportunities.

Applications are open 1 July - 1 August 2026.
