Hi everyone,
I am so excited to be running two writing retreats at Cober Hill this year. Next to the sea and close to the North York moors, Cober Hill is the perfect place spend time with other writers and get lots of writing done. This year, as well as the annual Writing by the Sea with Ali Harper in the summer, I am running Bog-Time: Retreat into Writing with Clare Shaw in November. Here are the details about both retreats.
Writing By The Sea - 27 July - 1 August with Ali Harper and Anna Chilvers
Anna and Ali have worked together on many retreats and are passionate about enabling writers to express themselves creatively. This year’s theme is Writing Talk which will cover a wide variety of topics, including voice, dialogue, what we talk about when we talk about writing – and we have Ed Hurst joining us as a guest speaker and workshop leader. The course includes workshops, [writing] exercise classes, seminars, writing time, an open mic night, feedback groups and the chance to recharge your creative batteries. Includes full board and single use en-suite rooms.
£840 - You can reserve a double room for an additional payment of £50 (there are only a limited number of double beds available, so these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis) or a larger twin or triple room for an additional premium of £25. (Please note these will still be single occupancy!)
Bog-Time: Retreat Into Writing - 20-22 November with Clare Shaw and Anna Chilvers
Time on bogs is slow - they grow at a rate of one millimetre per year. An established bog holds a huge depth of time in its peaty depths; a new bog is a delicate thing full of potential. This three-day retreat is a chance to write in bog-time. Over the long weekend we will learn from the bog, both thematically and in terms of writing process. The retreat will include writing workshops, a chance to share your work and ideas with others, and free time to get stuck into your writing. With miles of moorland to choose from, on Saturday morning, we’ll visit a truly exceptional bog on the North York Moors to get up close and personal with its 18,000 years of peat growth, its embryonic raised bogs, and its unparalleled biodiversity including dragonflies, curlew and unique botany. Includes full board and single use en-suite rooms.
£435 - (a limited number of double rooms are available for £465)
If you would like to book onto either or both of these retreats please get in touch. You can reserve a place by paying a deposit of £100. The balance for Writing By The Sea would need to be paid by 3 July. The balance for Bog-Time would be due on 9 October.
You can find more details here. Please get in touch if you have any questions or would like to book a place.
Best wishes
Anna
