Welcome to your weekly cinema listings.

We hope you're having a restful December packed full of fun film, and as we head into the new year, there's plenty more to come. 

From the manic Marty Supreme to the awe-inspiring Avatar: Fire and Ash, there's something for everyone across our three screens but first we wanted to provide a quick update on our ticketing.

From 1 January ticket prices will be changing for our Pictureville and Cubby Broccoli screens.

We've worked hard to ensure that prices remained the same since our reopening but due to the rising costs of the last few years we’ve made the decision to raise certain ticket prices.

Though some ticket prices will rise by 50p, the price of memberships and tickets for our IMAX, Kids' Club and CineMini screenings will remain the same.

This change will ensure we can continue to programme the best of independent film in 2026 and beyond, while work continues on an improved accessible offer to ensure that our cinema remains open for all.

Welcome to the January Newsletter, a round-up of 2025! We have been looking back over the year just gone and enjoying the memories made together.  Take a look at our 2025 round-up to see some facts, figures, and highlights from the year! Looking back through the blogs for 2025 feels like reading an old diary.  Come and read it with us as we reshare a selection of our favourites.  In January 2025 we appointed new trustees and got to know them. In May, The Beautiful Future is Coming had us discussing how theatre can contribute to the climate movement, with Amber Amoo-Gottfried. In June, How To Win Against History celebrated the bravery of being yourself.  We spoke to costume designer Ryan Dawson Laight about how the costumes in show were created. In August, we bid farewell to Charlotte Geeves, our Executive Director of six years.  She shared her top five memories of Bristol Old Vic with us. WHAT A YEAR We celebrated our 25th year in 2025, what a year it’s been!  We opened with Artist’s Assembly, then welcomed Jeanette Winterson for an inspiring lecture on LS Lowry. Gods of Salford ignited the Lyric stage, followed by the beautiful Songs of the BulBul.  Phil Wang brought the laughs at LIVE AT LOWRY and the National Theatre’s DEAR ENGLAND wowed audiences for four unforgettable weeks.  We also launched LOWRY 360, the UK’s first free permanent immersive Lowry experience.  We can’t wait to welcome you in 2026. JANUARY 2026 National Year of Reading Poet and sound artist Otis Mensah 2025 is the National Year of Reading, and Sheffield is joining in with a year packed full of exciting events and activities to celebrate the joy of books, stories, and creativity. We’re kicking things off with a launch on Saturday 31 January. Expect an inspiring day featuring: Otis Mensah – poet and sound artist, former Sheffield Poet Laureate Danaé Wellington – writer, producer, former Sheffield Poet Laureate Lisa Maltby – local illustrator and designer and much more to be announced soon! But that’s just the start. Through the year, there will be workshops, author talks, family activities, and community projects across our libraries, with something for everyone to enjoy. From moving stories of resilience to imaginative fantasy worlds, here are their top picks and why they loved them. Lorna – The Diary of a Man of Fifty by Henry James A short story that offers insight into the choices we make in life, focusing on a potential love story in Florence that mirrors an older man's regret. Lucy – Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune A sequel to The House in the Cerulean Sea that doesn’t disappoint! Fantasy at its best! Mar – What You Are Looking For Is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama It touched me deeply! Because it was true; what I was looking for was in the library - and I didn’t even know what I was looking for!
