Dear Reader,

Forty-three days until the big red man descends the chimney. Retaining the magic of a traditional Christmas against its rampant consumerism is a tough balance but worth the effort, especially when it comes to mindful shopping. It’s the season of sparkle and if you’re thinking about jewellery, we love Skydiamond for its unique take on the subject. Sitting at the intersection of design, engineering and luxury, the company – conceived by Dale Vince – plucks carbon from the sky using renewable energy sources and alchemises it into the ultimate expression of natural beauty – the diamond. Guilt-free bling for a conscious Christmas.

Have a great week.

WHAT’S EXCITING ME THIS WEEK

The £1 million bag

This story about Pharrell Williams’ $1m bag for Louis Vuitton disturbed me almost as much as Kim Kardashian’s nipple bra. Luckily, Elvis & Kresse responded by putting one of their gorgeous bags up for sale for £1m – except with every single penny going to good causes.

Most iconic movie wedding dresses

Looking for winter wedding dress inspo? These fabulous confections – all icons from the silver screen, from Carrie’s Vivienne Westwood on Sex and the City to Mamma Mia’s boho Greek goddess take on a theme – might be a fantasy starting point.

The Holiday vibes

Cult viewing for many come the festive season, take a day trip out of town to immerse yourself in the cute Surrey pubs, countryside and villages to see where Jude Law and Cameron Diaz fell in love in the thoroughly British romcom The Holiday.

FIVE THINGS NOT TO MISS

Santa himself will flick the all important switch at Chelsea’s Christmas Light Switch On next Saturday, kicking off a jam-packed season of festivities across the neighbourhood.

Happy Diwali! If you’re looking for last minute spots to celebrate the Festival of Light (and beyond), here are our top picks.

It’s time to get your tickets for The Beauty Beat, the UK’s only luxury beauty event for Women of Colour, featuring talks from the likes of Sabrina Elba and a beauty goodybag worth over £500. 2 & 3 December

An Instagram sensation turned best-selling book, tickets are now on sale for Accidentally Wes Anderson: The Exhibition, opening in South Kensington on 13 December.

E.L.V. DENIM arrives at Liberty this week, welcoming visitors to design a unique top using reworked Liberty scarves, completed with a label and embroidery.
