PRE-CODE HOLLYWOOD: RULES ARE
MADE TO BE BROKEN
|
|
|
|
|
|
The moral backbone
and happy ending of the Hollywood movie has been
universally-received wisdom for decades. But before the censors
came along and introduced the Hays Code guidelines in 1934, there
were a few years where thrillingly edgy
and risqué flicks, starring the likes of Clark Gable,
James Cagney and Norma Shearer as greedy criminals and promiscuous
libertines, were the talk of the town.
In this new touring
season of five restored films, Pre-Code Hollywood: Rules are
Made to be Broken, experience the wild, dangerous period of the
early '30s; when crime did pay, the bad guy got the girl in the
end, and you really could get away with murder.
We're pleased to present the films in this season at a discounted
ticket price. And if you can't get enough of that artwork, follow
us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram –
there'll be posters and free tickets to be won.
