The Short Story Challenge Kicks Off Next Week!

The 17th annual Short Story Challenge kicking off next Friday, January 20th, is a competition that challenges writers worldwide to create short stories based on genre, subject, and character assignments in as little as 24 hours. Feedback from the judges is provided for every submission, writers keep all the rights to the stories they create, and there are thousands in cash prizes for the winners. Sound like fun? Learn more, register, and read previous winning stories at the link below. Good luck, writers!

From an original field of over 6,200 writers worldwide and after three rounds of competition, 45 finalists were challenged to create a story no longer than 1,250 words based on the open genre, a pyramid scheme (subject), and a gate-crasher (character) in 24 hours. We are proud to present "Happy As Corpses", the story by F.E. Choe (Columbia, SC, USA) which won the 2022 competition. Enjoy!
