Cleckheaton Writers Group met on Monday evening with Karen, Gemma, Dali, Michelle, Cassie and Kathy in attendance, Alice having passed on her apologies.
The minutes of the previous meeting were passed.
WIP updates: Karen has been editing, has submitted to the WriteNow2022 competition, Skylark Literary Competition, Zuntold Publishing and pitched for #DVPitchBookouture. Michelle has edited her drabble down and entered Wolves Literature Competition with a poem. Kathy has written a short piece that she brought along for feedback. Gemma has been editing. Dali has got a new laptop, passed her IT Course (congrats) and written a tribute which she brought along to share.
Competitions/workshops/events: As well as the open NYC short story challenge 2023 and the Discoveries Women's Prize Trust 2023, the Huddersfield Literature Festival have some free and hybrid online events, including a writing one in March.
Feedback sessions: Kathy shared her untitled prose piece which was extremely well received and had a fabulous twist at the end. Dali shared her tribute to her dog Dizzy which was poignant.
Karen asked if all CWG members who have written dribbles, drabbles, poetry or short pieces they would like to be considered for the upcoming CWG anthology, could please email them to her so she can begin to compile a file.
Writing plans: Karen hopes to do some editing, as does Gemma. Kathy, Michelle, Dali and Cassie will be sending their pieces. Cassie will be working on her U3A assignment.
Next meeting: Monday 23 January 5.30pm at Cleckheaton Library. New members always welcome.
