Baby Photo Booth in City Library with award winning photographer Tim Simpson

Baby photo booth

We will be holding a special Baby Photo Booth at City Library on the following dates:

Wednesday 1st February

Wednesday 1st March

Wednesday 5th April

Tim Simpson is an incredible award-winning photographer and these are the perfect sessions for families to have a chance at a photo shoot for their baby at a reasonable price (£5).

Each ticket includes a printed photograph of baby.  Parents have the option to have more printed directly with Tim after they’ve seen all of the photographs on a personal and password-protected link.

Our free weekly Rhyme Time session will also take place 10am-11am on the same day, so come and make an morning of it, joining in with songs and rhymes, exploring lovely books - and it's obviously a great opportunity to meet with other parents and carers.

Parents will be able to collect their printed photograph two weeks later at the Rhyme Time session.

Library adventures

Library Adventures - 11th January 2023

We've Moved!!!!

Huddersfield Library in it's new location

New temporary Library Building - We are OPEN!!!!

Huddersfield Library has a temporary new home in the Customer Services Centre in Huddersfield (opposite the bus station).  We can offer children's and adults' areas as well as IT facilities. We can't wait to see you there.

This is a temporary change until our fantastic new library is complete in Spring 2026. In the meantime, it's a wonderful opportunity for us to do even more work with our partner organisations and make new partnerships. Keep your eyes peeled on our social media and in the library for news of events that we will be running with our partners across Huddersfield.

Read more about the move in the Kirklees Together magazine.

Book Review

The Front Cover of The List of Things That Will Not Change

The List of Things that will Not Change is a gem of a book that sensitively deals with the emotional issue of parents getting divorced. We are introduced to 10 year old Bea, who whilst coming to terms with her parents splitting up, also has to get used to her Dad's new...boyfriend and a new step-sister. Rebecca sensitively deals with the themes of divorce, homophobia and anxiety and makes it easy to relate to Bea and the other characters. Bea copes through help from her loving family, her therapy sessions and her list...a list of things that will not change. A list she is able to add to as the story progresses. This is an ideal book for children aged 8-12 but older young people and adults would get a lot from it too.

We have copies of this book available to borrow in our libraries and as an eBook from Libby or overdrive.

Themed Collection of Books

Images of books from our Empathy Collection for teens

Available to download (from our eBook and eAudio platforms...Overdrive or the Libby App) or renew from anywhere with an internet connection, these books around empathy are part of a nationally curated collection suitable for teenage readers.
