Festive Reads to
Share
During
the hectic countdown to Christmas - why not take
time to curl up on the sofa, get cosy and enjoy a peaceful
festive family read together.
We have lots of traditional Christmas stories, Winter reads
and Classic tales for children and their families.
Or why not start the Winter Mini Reading Challenge from the
Reading Agency: it’s a great way for children to have fun and to keep
reading during the school holidays. Children can review their books, do
online activities and unlock their special virtual badge and
certificate.
All the following books are available to borrow from Bradford
Libraries. These are just a selection; there are many more titles on Bradford Libraries catalogue.
And don’t forget we have eBooks and eAudio Books too.
You will also find suggested Christmas resources that will help to keep
children busy while learning and having fun and don’t miss our
Christmas competition.

Face Coverings
in Libraries
Following the recent Government announcements, you must now
wear a face covering when using our libraries unless you are exempt.
Thank you for your co-operation and let's all keep safe.
Access to
Ancestry
In March 2020 libraries around the world had to close their
doors due to the global pandemic. ProQuest and Ancestry made the
unprecedented decision to grant public libraries temporary remote access
to Ancestry Library Edition (ALE) for those who could provide a secure
method of authentication.
ProQuest and Ancestry happily made this decision to help our
customers and their patrons navigate this challenging time. We did not
charge an additional fee for remote access and we waived the standard
annual price increase for 2021.
After nearly 2 years of temporary access, and after most
libraries reopened their doors, Ancestry has made the difficult decision
to end remote access for at the end of 2021. Ancestry cares deeply about
libraries and their patrons, but they have agreements with publishers and
other business considerations that prevent them from offering remote
access permanently.
Onsite access remains unchanged. You can access Ancestry
Library Edition through desktop computers provided by Bradford Libraries
or using your own personal laptop, tablet, or mobile phone whilst
connected to our wi-fi.
