A few hours left to enter for the Early deadline:
Whether you've been a
fan of fiction podcasts for years, or you've been newly introduced
to the medium and want to adapt a feature script into an audio-only
series, our 2021
Fiction Podcast Contest is here for you.
Two winners will
each receive $5,000 to produce their pilot episode, plus $1,000
cash. In collaboration with
the winning writers, Shore Scripts will produce both episodes and
pitch them to podcast companies in an effort to get a
full season greenlit.
Our judges this year
are some of the most talented and respected creators in the
industry, including Terry Miles (The
Black Tapes, Tanis, Rabbits), Lauren Shippen (The Bright Sessions,
Passenger List, Bridgewater), Richard Seneque (Visionaries Audio Drama),
and Eli Barraza (The
Far Meridian, ars PARADOXICA).
Check out the contest rules, formatting
guidelines, FAQs, and more.

Every time we remind
you about our Fiction
Podcast Contest, you can count on us to also share
something we love about the space. Today, let's talk about multitasking. One
thing that keeps us committed to discovering new audio content is
the fact that we can binge-listen while doing relatively menial
everyday tasks. Like, folding laundry, washing dishes, or commuting
to work.
But what does this all mean for
writers? One thing is that listeners are
always looking for new stories. And one of the reasons audio drama
is able to fulfill this need is by offering a vast variety of
innovative genres that wouldn't necessarily work for film or TV.
Additionally, the medium is
designed for independent content creators. Yes, there
are big-name studios producing fiction podcasts these days,
but it is still a relatively untapped medium without traditional
gatekeepers standing in the way of YOU writing, producing,
uploading, and promoting your own shows. All to say, it's a really
exciting time for storytellers right now.
