More things to do in London this week

With thanks to Country and Townhouse, here are a few more ideas for things to do in London this week:

A celebrity facialist’s guide to kicking bad skincare habits, and how to give your home a green spring clean

Whatever happened to an easy bit of fence-sitting? Nowadays it seems you just have to have a very loud opinion about every possible subject, whether you know anything about it or not. You are either Team Meghan or Team Palace (what a regretful state of affairs on both sides). You’re either vegan or raw flesh-crunching carnivore (you can’t possibly do both). You’re either Yoga or Pilates (why?). I preferred it when you could be a soupçon of one and a finger lick of the other and no one judged you any the worse for it. So, if you want my opinion on anything, I’ll be sitting on that fence over there.

Have a great week.

FIVE THINGS YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS

Coppa Club

Looking for the perfect outdoor dining spot to book for April? We’ve got just the ticket. Coppa Club’s famous riverside igloos are returning – with a new spring makeover. Bookings open online this week for all four locations across the country, and they always sell out quickly, so make sure you’re ready to hit go.

L’heure espagnole

Grange Park Opera is releasing a reboot of Maurice Ravel’s ‘opera comique’ L’heure espagnole, which tells the story of an unwitting clockmaker whose wife cavorts with other lovers while he’s out. You can view it online from 20 March.

St Patricks’ Day

Celebrate St Patrick’s Day by cooking up an Irish-inspired storm with the help of chef Robin Gill, who is offering a meal box kit from his restaurant Darby’s. Begin with ham hock & Gubbeen croquettes and Robin's soda bread followed by a beef & Guinness pie, topped off with a Guinness custard tart dessert.

Liverpool Biennial 2021

The first chapter of Liverpool Biennial 2021 kicks off on 20 March with a major new series of outdoor sculpture, sonic and digital commissions by nine different artists. Titled The Stomach and the Port, this year’s festival explores themes of the body, with free exhibitions taking place across the city’s public spaces and galleries, as well as online, until June. Barista School

Looking to upgrade your morning coffee? Become a caffeine connoisseur at Balance Coffee’s new online barista school. The platform features videos, tips and hacks on all the elements that go into the craft of coffee – from the best non-dairy milks to latte art. Invest in one of these luxurious coffee machines for the full experience.

WHAT’S KEEPING MY SPIRITS UP

Spring Cleaning

Many may disagree but I find cleaning (within reason) therapeutic. I love it when the house is spotless. And there are so many ways to do it without the use of endless plastic spray bottles, toxic substances and disposable wipes. Lemon, vinegar and baking soda are your key allies if you want to keep things super simple, but even cleaning can be green and glamorous with a new raft of excellent products – from compostable scourers to refillable bottles with plastic free refills (just add water). Cleaning chic. It’s a thing.

The Rurban Look

As you may recall I’ve been planning a redecoration during lockdown. A blast of much-needed colour thanks to Little Greene’s bright pink ‘Leather’, Christou and Knowles' Will ‘o’ The Wisp wallpaper and a smattering of Christopher Farr fabrics – all pulled together by the gorgeous Suzann Bozorgi, who has shared with us her recommendations for bringing a breath of fresh country air into metropolitan homes. Think nooks and crannies, layering and antiques and colour and texture.

Bad Beauty Habits

Have you been digging around – and not in the garden? I’m talking spot-squeezing here, folks. According to Adeela Crown, facialist at The Dorchester, lockdown has forced us into terribly bad beauty and skincare habits. Throw in the stress, comfort eating, too much screen time and no salon appointments and we’ve got some major problems. Luckily Adeela has some really helpful pointers and the products to help us until we can get back on the beauty bed.
