Upcoming writing opportunities

My writer friend, and workshop tutor, Anna Turner has sent me details of a couple of upcoming writing opportunities:

The Hebden Bridge Little Theatre are running a playwriting competition with performances of the winning plays in July 2018. Details can be found on their website www.hblt.co.uk and see guidance document below:

Play-Write! Hebden Bridge Little Theatre One-Act Drama Festival - 2018
The Little Theatre is pleased to announce the launch of a new one act play festival -Play Write!
Budding playwrights are invited to submit original, one act plays, with the three winning scripts to be performed at the Festival, in July 2018.
Basic Rules
Only one script per author will be accepted, and each script must be new work that has not been previously published or performed.
Each play must be no more than 30 minutes long, with a cast of no more than six actors, and with simple staging requirements (i.e. basic set, lighting, props, etc.).
A short-list of plays will be chosen by a panel of independent judges, and performed for two nights, over the week-end of 20-21 July, 2018.
The plays remain copyright of their authors.
Submission guidelines
So that each script may be judged anonymously, the author’s name should appear on a cover page, and not on the script. The cover page must include the following information: play title, number of words, your name, address, telephone number, and email address. Please also sign the cover sheet to confirm this is your own work.
Writers should submit two copies of their plays, printed on one side only of A4 paper with no binding or stapling. Pages must be numbered.
Your entry should be posted or delivered to: Vaughan Leslie, 14 Longstaff Court, Hebden Bridge, HX7 6AB.
Submissions will not be accepted by email, and scripts cannot be returned.          The deadline for submissions is 31 January 2018. There is no entry fee.
Selection Process
Hebden Bridge Little Theatre will appoint three independent judges, to evaluate the plays submitted. The three judges (yet to be announced) will be chosen for their experience of writing and directing in the theatre. The judges will read and score each play, and the ones going forward to the Festival will be those with the highest combined scores.
The plays short-listed will be announced at the beginning of April 2018. The results will appear on the Little Theatre website, on our Facebook site, and the winning writers will also be notified by email.
Production
The Little Theatre will take care to produce the winning plays to our normal high standard, and the writers will be given a chance to have some input into this process.
Mounting the Festival is going to be a challenge, but we believe we have allowed sufficient time, from April to mid-July, to prepare properly for this special event.
The winning plays will receive their première at the Little Theatre Festival, on Friday, 20 July and Saturday, 21 July 2018.
Prizes
The judge’s trophy will go to the best of the three short-listed plays. In addition there will be a small prize for the audience favourite each evening.

The Bronte Festival of Women's Writing is hosting  an event  called -'Getting Yourself Out There! Self-Publishing & Self-Promotion' on Friday 22nd September at the 'Cobbles and Clay' café in Haworth, from 7-9pm, where there will be discussion about the importance of online self-promotion and other methods of publicity.
All details in link below (except the venue)

Also a reminder about the Walter Swann Short story competition. The deadline is 16 October, so plenty of time to get your entries in. Details are here:
