History and Classics
Durham Book Festival
proudly presents events from a variety of writers inspired by History and
the Classics.
From award-winning comedian
and journalist, Viv Groskop’s self-help memoir inspired by the Russian
classics, to Peter Snow and Ann MacMillan’s thrilling compilation of true
war experiences from those who lived it.
Woman’s Hour
presenter Dame Jenni Murray will present her account of the history of
Britain through the achievements of 21 inspiring women, from Boadicea to
Mary Quant. While, Lyndall Gordon will introduce, Outsiders, which links
the life stories of five female novelists, including Mary Shelley and
Virginia Woolf.
We think there is an event
for everyone to fully appreciate our history in this year’s programme.
