Poetry Events at Ilkley Literature Festival 2017

Dear Poetry Fan,

Booking is now open for Ilkley Literature Festival 2017 and we wanted to let you know about the fantastic selection of poetry events we have on the programme this year.
Our Poet in Residence Daljit Nagra will be reading from his new collection British Museum along with Irish Poet Colette Bryce and our Apprentice Poet in Residence Jade Cuttle. Daljit will also be reading with acclaimed Somali poet Xasan Daahir Ismaaciil ‘Weedhsame’ in a special event from the Poetry Translation Centre.
Simon Armitage returns to Ilkley with his new collection The Unaccompanied and Fleur Adcock, Grace Nichols and David Constantine will take Islands as the starting point for their reading.
Sacred Sounds combines poetry, music, images and first hand accounts to tell the moving and forgotten story of the role Sikh Soliders played in World War 1. Described as 'one of the finest poets writing in India today', Arundhati Subramaniam will be joined by Richard Scott and Edward Doegar for her reading while Stuart Maconie teams up with Kim Moore and Peter Sansom to explore the relationship between poetry and beer!

Plus we have an exhibition celebrating the visual poetry of Ian Hamilton Finlay, workshops and masterclasses and a great selection of free drop in or pop up poetry events as well!
You can book by phone on 01943 816 714 from 10am - 4pm Monday - Friday, 10am - 1pm Saturday or online any time.
