Industrial Scripts newsletter

Here is the latest Industrial Scripts newsletter for my followers to peruse:

And so, GAME OF THRONES is in the rear-view mirror for another year. With it goes one of the few TV shows that everyone is watching and talking about.

In our fractured media landscape, is the concept of 'watercooler TV' dead?

Can the right show, at the right time, still capture the zeitgeist?

Or are we better off writing to our own little niche, even if that means cutting down on the CGI dragons and epic ice zombie armies? Something to ponder.

Welcome to August's INDUSTRIAL SCRIPTS newsletter.

Client Reviews o' the Month

"I am delighted with the attention your reader afforded my script. Not only did they bring to my attention some issues, they also offered very clear solutions. I enthusiastically recommend Industrial Scripts as a means of stress-testing your script."

- Steven, verified client review by unique PayPal Code, August 2017

My reviewer was knowledgeable and obviously took their work seriously. The review arrived before the deadline and was longer than expected, which was delightful in both respects. Definitely worth the investment to me and I would use their services again.

Script of the Month

The Oscar-winning SPOTLIGHT is a masterful example of how to adapt a true story into a script that's dramatic but still authentic. Rather than condense the real people into a single hero part for a star, Josh Singer and Tom McCarthy trust the audience to follow all the moving parts of a complex conspiracy and its unravelling. The result is a gripping and believable procedural drama.

The Random Tip

Every month we list an unorthodox tip relating to writing and creativity in general.

Arcs are all about before and after. Imagine your protagonist in the same situation at the end that they faced in the beginning. Would they react differently? That's how you know they've changed.
That Awesome Scene

We're avid YouTubers here at IS, and in honour of the sheer learning and discovery available on this beautiful creation, we look back at an amazing film or TV scene.

This month: THE GODFATHER
