Brighouse Cinema, Sense of an Ending Thursday 21 September

The Sense of an Ending is showing at 7.30pm this Thursday at Brighouse Cinema:

Thursday September 21st, 7.30pm

The Sense of an Ending

Our next cinema presentation is "Sense of an Ending" starring Jim Broadbent and Charlotte Rampling on Thursday 21st September.
The film is based on the Julian Barnes’s Booker prize-winning novel which is about recurring images of circles. There’s the cycle of life: Tony (Jim Broadbent) receives news of a death just as his daughter is about to give birth; then, in an amiable narration at the film’s opening, Tony conjures up the image of life as a series of holding patterns, concentric circles that you navigate as you wait for the next stage to start.

"With his very nicely judged performance – lugubrious, droll, self-pitying and slightly scared – Broadbent controls the pace and tone of every scene, and the film as a whole; Mavor and Rampling are very good as the coolly sardonic and opaque Veronica, and Billy Howle is strong, too, in the role of young Tony."  The Guardian
