ReFINED @ Seven
As the weather
cools down to the normal British summer offering, there is much
come inside for at Seven. Tomorrow, Friday 23 June, 8pm, critically
acclaimed sketch show The Land of Nod
returns with a brand new show of topical sketches. See Boris and
Theresa on shopping TV, witness the eerie effects of owning a log
burner, and sing along with the Morrissey dancers. Great fun. £8.
On Saturday 24 June,
7.30pm, look forward to Summer Shorts – A Quartet
of Short Plays. The four plays are sharp, thought-
provoking pieces of new writing, Finding a Language, Dark Desire
Flowing, Citizen Clown, and Out Of This World, by local
playwrights, Sarah Wallis and Jonathan Hall - . £8 /£5 conc.
On Sunday 25 June,
1.30-4pm, Seven Jazz Leeds
presents Dales Jam. The band was formed in 2003 in
Skipton by a group of people of all ages and musical abilities, and,
under the guidance of jazz saxman Richard Ormrod has flourished. £10 / £8 conc. At 8pm, also on Sunday 25 June,
it's the ever-popular Sunday Quiz,
aimed to stretch those little grey cells and be fun at the same time. Free with raffle and prizes.
On Monday
26 June, 8pm, the Screen Seven movie is 20 Feet From Stardom.
Backup singers live in a world that lies just beyond the spotlight,
their voices bringing harmony to the biggest bands in popular music.
Triumphant and heartbreaking in equal measure, the film is both a
tribute to the unsung voices who brought shape and style to popular
music. £6 / £5 conc.
A subject for everyone on Tuesday
27 June, 8pm, Café Scientifique – The
Myths Of Science and Sleep. Prof Graham Law is a
sleep scientist with more than 25 years’ research experience. He set up
the Sound Asleep Laboratory, which is working towards methods to
improve sleep in a way that will have a significant effect on sleep
health and well-being. Hat

Kill for a Seat Comedy
has its monthly oouting on Wednesday
28 June, 8pm, with great comedians …plus special guests and
your ever effusive host, Silky. £11

Rounding off June on Thursday
29 & Friday 30 June, 7:30 pm, Phoenix Dance Theatre
presents ReFINED, a thrilling mixed programme packed with
solos, duets, trios and quartets plucked from some of Phoenix’s most
popular recent work. Designed specifically for smaller stages, and
curated by the company’s Artistic Director, Sharon Watson, this
programme showcases some of the most breath-taking movements,
choreographed by a number of leading names from within the industry. £9 adv /£11 on the door.
