Creative Kirklees Newsletter 7 June 2017

There’s plenty to get you ‘inspired’ this week - starting with the Inspired Huddersfield festival from 9 – 23 June.  The festival celebrates art, design and architecture and includes the Graduate Showcase, research-focussed events, public lectures and networking sessions hosted throughout the University campus and Huddersfield town.
Also at the University, on Saturday 10 June, 11am-12.30pm, Sound System Culture presents
Let’s Play Vinyl a free hands-on workshop that will introduce children to the magic of vinyl.  Suitable for 5-10 year olds the workshop will give them the chance to interact with a 60s Dansette record player and records as well as including a craft activity to design and create colourful decorations using vinyl records. Make sure you book your place before the day.

In Marsden (near the Standedge Tunnel Visitors Centre), Making Tracks is running a series of free outdoor art workshops accessible to wheelchair users. Run by Experience Community you’ll learn drawing techniques, explore new ways of making maps and experience the local area in a novel way. You don’t need any previous experience, all materials are provided, and you can use one of their ‘Mountain Trike’ off-road wheelchairs for the session.
In Dewsbury next week it’s time to hum along to those well-known songs from Annie, such as  'Tomorrow' and 'It's the Hard Knock Life'.  Dewsbury Collegians are performing the show from Wednesday 14 to Saturday 17 June, so get your tickets now.
