Gates Of Gold @ Seven
On Thursday 17
November, 8pm, the Seven Jazz concert is the fabulous Jim Rattigan’s ‘Pavillon’.
Playing all original music, French Horn player Jim Rattigan’s 12 piece
ensemble, Pavillon, will take us through two sets combining fantastic
musicianship and improvising by some of the most highly-respected names
on the UK and international jazz and improvised music scenes. £20 /£18 conc. Doors 7.30pm.
Look forward to the Bollywood Jazz Project
on Friday 18
November, 8pm. Virtuoso jazz musicianship meets the
technicolour drama of Bollywood for a journey through cinematic sound.
The route winds from Madan Mohan to AR Rahman, the cool jazz vibe
under the masterly control of Supriya Nagarajan and musicians from the
Fruit Tree Project.

On Sunday 20
November, 3pm, the final offering from the UK Jewish
International Film Festival is Glories Of Tango.
Psychiatrist, Ezequiel is perplexed by his patient, Fermin, who
communicates only by quoting lyrics of tango songs. Researching his
history, Ezequiel uncovers some dark secrets. He also falls in love
with tango, and Eva, a tango instructor and Fermin’s granddaughter. Subtitles. £7 / £6 conc.

21 November, 8pm, is French film, Marguerite.
1921, the beginning of the Golden Twenties. Not far from Paris. It is
party day at Marguerite Dumont’s castle. As every year, an array
of music lovers gathers and Marguerite sings. She sings
wholeheartedly, but also out of tune. Both her friends and her husband
have kept her fantasy. The problem begins when she decides to perform in
front of a real audience.

On Tuesday 22
November, 8pm, the Café Scientifique
topic is Ecology Trip to Kenya. Lizzie Fry and some other recent
Ecology graduates will share their experience of research carried out
on a field trip to Laikipia, Kenya earlier this year. As well as
impressive photos, there will be details of the research, including:
the consequences of an elephant’s diet; and the mutual dependence of
ants and Acacia trees. Hat
