On Monday
4 April, 8pm, the Screen Seven movie is brilliant
Argentinian anthology film, Wild Tales,
directed by Damián Szifrón. Wild Tales is a raucously
entertaining collection of "six deadly stories of revenge", of
lives destroyed by parking fines, of road-rage insults escalating into
apocalyptic duel-like confrontations, of white wedding parties descending
into something more akin to the final scenes from Carrie – all defined by
the sudden and violent breakdown of “polite” behaviour. 2 hr 02 min.

Café Economique
on Tuesday 5
April, 7.30pm, looks at Global Capitalism. In this
talk Hugo Radice will outline the causes and consequences of the ‘
globalisation ‘ of capitalism. He will argue that globalisation, when
considered together with the revival of liberal economic thinking, has
transformed relations between business, organised labour and the state. £4 on the door.
On Thursday 7 April, 8pm, Seven welcomes John Law’s New Congregation –
‘These Skies In Which We Rust’ . John’s new double album
contains hard-hitting, simple melodies as well as complex textures,
featuring electronic music backing tracks, mixing in elements from
classical and rock as well. All with brilliant instrumental playing by
all four members of the band. £11 adv / £13 on the door.
Rounding off the week on
Saturday 9 April, 8.30pm, music of a different genre as Tumbleweedamericana
presents Amy Speace 'Amy Speace channels the
classics' - Billboard Magazine. 'Grace over drama' - Jon Pareles, New
York Times. '4 Stars' - Maverick magazine. ‘Speace might just be on the
