Writers and Artists crime and thriller fiction conference and writing competition

There is a Writers and Artists crime and thriller fiction conference in September and a competition to enter, full details below:

Writers & Artists

This week, Writers & Artists is celebrating the thrilling, fast-paced world of crime fiction – the page-turners, the grisly murders and the jaw-dropping twists – with two new, exciting additions to the community; our first full-day event and competition devoted to writing crime and thriller fiction. Read on for everything you need to know about how to take part.

Writing crime and thriller fiction

Join us for our inaugural Writing Crime and Thriller Fiction conference on Saturday 19th September, presented by award-winning authors, leading literary agents and creative writing tutors.
This day, consisting of an agent panel in the morning and a series of interactive, intensive workshops in the afternoon, aims to leave you equipped with the techniques and tools you need to craft a manuscript that will keep your readers immersed until the very last page (and long after).

Writing competition

Writers & Artists is excited to announce a new competition dedicated exclusively to crime and thriller writing. Whether you have a polished manuscript sitting at home, have just completed your first draft or are only a few thousand words in, we want you to submit up to the first 2,000 words of your crime/thriller fiction manuscript.  This is your chance to get your work in front of our judge, literary agent Diana Beaumont, and receive expert feedback to help you on your journey towards publication.

Writing crime and thriller fiction

“Suspense is less about action and more about anticipation – anticipation of things that might (or might not) happen, of decisions that may (or may not) be made."

If you’re thinking of entering our competition, make sure you read this from author and creative writer teacher Michelle Spring, on writing a thriller that will keep readers glued to the page.
