Woman and Accent Press woman's fiction competition, deadline 30 November

Thanks to my fellow blogger CGAGlass, here are the details for the Woman and Accent Press writing competition:

Have you got a book in you? Woman magazine and award-winning publishers Accent Press Ltd are searching for a new star of contemporary women’s fiction. We’re looking for novels by new, previously unpublished writers. The winner will win a contract with Accent Press to publish their novel next autumn and a week-long writing holiday at Chez Castillon, an 18th-Century townhouse and writer’s retreat in the Bordeaux region of France. Woman magazine will also feature the winner and their book. The judging panel includes Katie Fforde – one of the most popular names in womens’ fiction, Cat Camacho - women’s fiction editor at Accent Press Ltd and Jane Wenham-Jones - best-selling women’s fiction writer and author of the writing book series Wannabe A Writer. Accent Press Ltd is home to some of the biggest names in women’s fiction, including best-sellers Catrin Collier, Jane Bidder and Christina Jones and has launched the careers of new writers Jo Thomas and Kate Glanville. To enter you must submit a synopsis and the first three chapters of your original work. The competition closes at midnight on Sunday, November 30 2014. How to enter:

This competition is open to all unpublished writers living and working in the UK. We are looking for a new star of women's contemporary fiction, therefore your novel must be written to appeal to the mainstream female readers market. Entrants must submit a full-synopsis (maximum 1,000 words) and first three chapters of their novel up to a maximum of (8,000 words). Titles, blank lines and page numbers are not included in the word count. All work must be submitted on a Word document and written in English. Your entry must include your full name, address, phone number (mobile where possible), occupation, date of birth, a brief autobiography (maximum 200 words) and an author photo. These will be required to market the winning book. The work submitted must not have been previously published or self-published. Writers who have previously published short stories are eligible to enter, provided they have never had a novel published by a commercial publishing house.   Send your entries to info@accentpress.co.uk using the title Woman Writing Competition. Entries will only be accepted via this method and will not be returned. The deadline for entries is midnight (UK time) on Sunday November 30th. Entries received after this deadline will not be considered. The winner to be announced on Friday, January 9 2015. The winner must be able to deliver the completed novel by May 30 2015.  By entering the competition all writers will agree to take part in publicity.
