Creative writing funding: The Jessie Kesson Fellowship

 

 

 

The Fellowship, which is open to established writers, includes a month-long residency at Moniack Mhor

Jessie Kesson was a Scottish novelist, playwright and radio producer who died in 1994. The Jessie Kesson Fellowship, now in its eighth year, is run by Moniack Mhor Writers Centre.

 The chosen writer will live on site in the cottage at Moniack Mhor during the month of March 2105 and receive a stipend of £300 per week. The writer will have the opportunity to deliver six creative writing workshops based on or inspired by Jessie Kesson's life, in local schools, community centres and libraries. By the end of the residency, the writer will be asked to contribute one piece of writing to Moniack Mhor.

To be eligible for the Fellowship, writers must have published at least one novel, short story collection or poetry pamphlet, or have had a professionally staged production of their work. Writers applying for the Fellowship must have experience of working with children and young people.
Writers must also hold a current UK driving licence.

 The closing date for applications for the Jessie Kesson Fellowship is 18 December.
