New Writers competitions

Thanks to my fellow blogger and NaNoWriMo challenger Blog About Writing for the following competition information:

For 'New' Writers

Now, ‘new’ writers, I have 2 pieces of important competition news for you:

1) If you’ve earned less than £500 in 2013 from short stories, then you count as a ‘New Writer’ as far as Nottingham Writers are concerned and you are eligible to enter their first ‘national’ short story competition, which closes on 31st January 2014. There’s a £5 entry fee but there are cash prizes. See the website for more information.

2) Another writers’ group – Erewash Writers – have a competition for newbies and this one is FREE to enter. The prize is a short story correspondence course (either by post or email) and the closing date is 5th December.

And In Other News..
My writing buddy Sally has news on her blog of another free short story competition – this time the theme is ‘romance’ – but it must have a seaside setting.
