Dead Valuable @ Seven


As August sets in and the city empties, there is a plethora of live music to enjoy at Seven plus a couple of other treats. Tomorrow, Saturday 1st August, 4-6pm, Summer Saturdays – Cobalt Tales, is a vibrant country folk duo with stunning harmonies. This entertaining female duo, Pat and Nuala, follow threads through the tales of lives and ancestry, singing about people, places, events, and experiences that have shaped them. Seven Courtyard or Bar. On Sunday 2nd August, 1.30-4pm, JazzLeeds – The Lottie Hood Nonet, new jazz group comprising young, upcoming jazz musicians from the Leeds jazz scene. Paying homage to classic albums such as ‘Ella Swings Gently with Nelson’, as well as new offerings from contemporary musicians, this Nonet reimagines well-loved standards of the American Songbook and Bossa Nova compositions. Seven Courtyard. Also on Sunday 2nd August, 7pm, South Asian Arts UK – Raga@ 7 Mehfil-e-Sitar, a captivating evening of Indian Classical music as part of the acclaimed Raga @ Seven series. Mehfil-e-Sitar brings together two exceptional artists for an immersive summer recital rooted in the rich traditions of Hindustani music, set within the warmth of a summer evening. Seven Venue. £20 / £15 Conc /  £10 Under 30s / SAA-uk Family £5.

Rush Hour Jazz returns with Alex Fisher on Wednesday 5th August 6-7.15pm.  Alex Fisher is a saxophonist, clarinettist and composer.With a foundation in jazz and the music of the Great American Songbook, he now enjoys regularly performing and recording on saxes from soprano to bass – as well as clarinet, and bass and contrabass clarinets. Seven Courtyard. Pay What You feel. Organised by JazzLeeds.

Also on Wednesday 5th August, 7.30pm, Murder Inc. presents Dead Valuable....a completely improvised comedy murder mystery set at Antiques Roadshow. WW2 medals, vintage toys, slightly chipped vases, Fiona Bruce, and DANGER. In short, the most priceless comedy murder mystery in town. Seven Venue. £10.

On Thursday 6th August, 8pm, a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing. In November 2025, leading experts were brought together to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis This 50-minute film will combine authoritative scientific content from the Westminster event with reactions from members of the public and some more familiar faces.  With a post-film conversation. Seven Venue. Free event.

Summer Saturdays – Two Troubadours with Nick Hall & Jinder on Saturday 8th August, 4-6pm. Two great songwriters share their stories, their songs, and a stage. Presented in the ‘songwriters circle’ troubadours’ style, Nick Hall “Delivers a set of delightful songs.” – Yorkshire Post and Jinder, “A singer songwriter of exceptional ability.” – Fatea Magazine. Seven Courtyard. Pay What You Feel. Organised by Mewl Music.

And rounding off early August on Sunday 9th August, 1.30-4pm, JazzLeeds – John Taylor’s Blues Spectrum. Philosophy, poetry, humour, grooves….but most of all….Blues! A superb band led by John Taylor sax, flute, harp and vocals, Pete Wade guitar, Ian Rose organ and Paul Smith drums, playing blues, funk and jazz. Seven Courtyard. Pay What You feel. Organised by JazzLeeds.

Seven will then close from Monday 10th August for much-needed maintenance, re-opening around 3pm on Friday 21st August.

  • There are sessions for 0-2 years and 2-5 years throughout our libraries. At the moment, we have a few places left at the following sessions;

Bradford Local History Lectures - Author talk by Bill Broady

Local author Bill Broady will be talking about “the hows of writing as well as the whys and what-abouts.”

His 2024 novel ‘The Night-Soil Men’ focused on the Independent Labour Party in Bradford and was heavily researched. He describes his latest book ‘There's No 'F' In Wonderful’ as “a work of purer fiction.”

Bill says “I'm an instinctive not an analytical writer but late in my career I'm beginning to see how the process really works. I hope this talk will be of use to imaginative writers and researchers alike—we are all treading the same road..."

These talks are supported by members of FoBALS (Friends of Bradford Archives & Local Studies) with Bradford Local Studies Library and West Yorkshire Archives Bradford.

It will take place on Thursday August 13 at 11.30am. The event is free but booking is essential.

Sisterverse - City Library this Friday 31st July. 7- 9pm.

Join us for Sisterverse TONIGHT! - a female only open mic where poetry rises, your voice matters, and sisterhood leads the stage. A space to share poetry, connect, and meet like-minded creatives.

Whether you're a lsitener, an emerging or curious poet, or someone with a poem waiting to be shared, this space welcomes you.

Snacks provided; however, feel free to bring along a snack along to share.

Sisterverse is a female only spoken word space. To ensure everyone is comfortable and able to share what they need to please be aware this is an adult only space.

Bradford College, Shipley College, Skillshouse and Skills for Work will be on hand to give advice and support.

Free Creative Writing and Printmaking Workshops

Exciting opportunity to take part in two free workshops - Creative Writing and Printmaking!

We are thrilled to be partnering with People Powered Press to offer two FREE workshops exploring peace and what it means to you.

Friday 14th August, Wyke Library. 2-4pm. A free creative writing with poet Antony Dunn — the winner of this year’s prestigious Northern Writer’s Award for Poetry — exploring themes of peacefulness and what peace means to you. Open to people totally new to writing and established writers. You'll be supported by Antony to find your inner poet and come away with a poem you have written.

Friday 28th August, People Powered Press Shipley. Times to be confirmed - to suit participants.

A free and fun group printmaking workshop at the World-Record Holding People Powered Press in Shipley. This hands-on group session will allow you to play with traditional printing techniques and materials and use the People Powered Press’ very special press. No experience necessary — you’ll make a print at the size of your choosing using words inspired by your writing workshop and create a beautiful print to take away. Free travel People Powered Press can be made available for those that need it from Wyke Library. You will be invited to have a copy of your print exhibited at The Peace Museum.

Wednesday 5 August 11am – 1pm

National Play Day is the UK’s annual celebration of children's right to play. Come along to the Courtyard for ‘Play with Bradford Museums’.

The free event will introduce children to the museums' mascots - Suzie Squirrell, Dave Dragon, Billie Boar and Shelly Sheep. Children will use the map to draw and stick details connected to those animals and to Bradford museums.

    On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, join us for Heritage Open Days 2026 at Locomotion! 

    Explore inside Kilburn Warehouse, the oldest surviving industrial building in Shildon and learn more about the world's first railway town. 

    Plus, go behind the scenes in our workshop, where traditional skills are kept alive, to see conservation in action as our teams work on restoration projects.

    GET AWAY FOR A DAY

    This summer, pick up your Summer Holiday Passport and collect stamps as you explore the museum, enjoying free activities as you go! 

    Younger railway fans can start at the station to dress up and sort parcels before heading to the countryside to try bird watching or sketching the scenery then play our new card matching game.

    Of course, no seaside visit is complete without a souvenir, so create your own classic Punch and Judy show or traditional carousel to take home with you, and make sure to write a postcard all about the memories you've made too! Plus, don't miss our giant railway poster photo station in Great Hall!

    There’s something for everyone at Revesby Country Fair! 💐 🏹 🧗‍♂️

    This much-loved Lincolnshire country show will include its best-ever line-up of entertainment, activities and country pursuits, including traditional equine favourites such as show jumping and shire horses.

    The show will return on Sunday 2nd August 2026, taking over the historic grounds of Revesby Estate with a fantastic line-up of live entertainment, activities and country pursuits.

    There will be a jam-packed schedule of attractions, displays and hobbies for all of the family to enjoy. More than 200 trade stands are expected - celebrating the best food, drink and crafts that Lincolnshire has to offer.

    Revesby Country Fair is a great day out for the whole family. There’s a packed schedule of attractions and ‘have a go’ hobbies for all the family to try, as well as dozens of judged produce, cooking and flower competitions, which anyone can enter.

    There will also be live music to entertain you as you enjoy the food and trade stands.

    Dogs are welcome, so dog-lovers are invited to bring along your well-behaved, four-legged friends and get them involved in dog agility events and dog shows.

    And of course, the day wouldn’t be complete without the traditional ‘Revesby style’ terrier racing!
