Goodbye February Blues @ Seven


Tonight, tickets for jaw-dropping guitar player, Martyn Joseph, are sold out - but there are tickets available for Sunday 6th February 1.30-4pm  Jazz Leeds – James Mainwairing Quartet. This is a Leeds supergroup of improvisers playing music of the jazz masters in their own style – a must for lovers of free jazz. £10 full / £8 conc. Under 25s £5.

Fast becoming a Seven favourite, on Wednesday 9th February, 6:- 7:15 pm, it is Seven Live – Rowland Jones Growing up in the 60s and influenced by ’John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton, Rowland Jones has played with rock bands, big bands, folk-rock bands and even toured with bands like Limmie and the Family Cookin’ and The Exciters. PWYF, Seven Bar.

Also on Wednesday 9th February, 7.30pm, the monthly outing for The Discount Comedy Checkout. Prepare yourself for a night of hilarious improvised comedy - no show is the same and is created by you, the audience! "This doesn’t mean we hound you – it’s literally join in if you want to." £10.
 
On Thursday 10th February, 7.30pm,  JazzLeeds – Joe Tatton Group with Gareth Lockrane. Joe Tatton, keyboard player for many years with UK/US funk/soul jazz kings New Mastersounds, is coming with a fantastic line-up to Seven Arts, including special guest, Gareth Lockrane, noted for his dazzling flute playing. £16 full/ £14 conc, £8 under 25.

The long-awaited return on Friday 11th February, 8pm, of  Voodoo Room – A Night of Hendrix, Clapton & Cream, This band delivers all-time great numbers, with the true passion and energy worthy of these true masterpieces. This show is beyond any tribute, its a celebration of pure power trio class!! £15.

On Sunday 13th February, 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm, JazzLeeds – Jasmine Quintet. Jasmine is a saxophone-led quintet from Leeds, with music composed by saxophonist Jasmine Whalley, performing a blend of Jazz and Hip-Hop which creates a unique and current sound  £10 full / £8 conc. Under 25s £5.

Also, we have quizzes on Sunday 6th & 13th February, 7pm. The Sunday Quiz, is a great way to end the weekend with friends and family. £5 per team, with prizes.

And, don't forget, Seven has teamed up with Canteen, Wednesday- Sunday, so your favourite pizzas can be ordered at Seven and zipped across the road.

We have lots of new classes on Creative Kirklees from Globe Arts in Slaithwaite - from drawing to printmaking, fused glass to ceramics, there are lots of opportunities to try something new.

If you work in textiles in Kirklees get yourself onto Made in Kirklees. Part of WOVEN, Made in Kirklees aims to become an online one-stop-shop for people to find & discover the amazing richness and textiles industry still thriving in Kirklees, from the small creative artist to the retailers through to the large manufacturers.  Take a look and start promoting your work.

The deadline for the Kirklees strand of the Let’s Create Jubilee Fund has been extended to 11 February.  If you’re a voluntary and community organisations and want to put on creative activities for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June, there is still time to apply.

Have you heard about the PACE project? It’s a new initiative for Kirklees, designed to help young people access career opportunities in the creative sector. If you’re aged 16-25, living in Kirklees and interested in a career in the creative sector, then the PACE project is for you!

Finally, a reminder that the Mrs Sunderland Festival starts this weekend. In its 133rd year, it’s one of the largest festivals of music, speech and drama in the country – not to be missed.
