For those of my followers who have children on school holidays this week, here are some activities available at Harewood House, Leeds:
|
We're open
all week for half term fun!
|
|
After some
stormy days, get outside for a brilliant – if muddy! – family
day at Harewood.
Even if you need your wellies,
the paths around our beautiful lake, gardens and grounds are
waiting to be explored. Our feathered and furry friends in the Bird Garden + Farm
Experience will brighten up a cloudy day, and all
half term you can join us for the farm feed at 12pm and the penguin feed
at 2pm.
In the House, it's your last
chance to explore Becoming
the Yorkshire Princess, a must-see for fans of
the royal family that delves into the early life of HRH Princess
Mary, resident of Harewood for over 30 years.
The weather still looks
changeable so please do check our website and social channels
before you travel – but otherwise, we look forward to welcoming you
to Harewood!

Outdoor
family fun
Wellies on
for a day of adventure!
|
|
|
|
Harewood's huge Adventure
Playground has areas for all ages, so all the kids can jump, swing,
climb and slide to their heart's content. Let their imagination
have free rein as they decide whether it's a pirate ship, a
jungle hide-out, a castle or a fort!
|
|
Challenge your family to explore
the Himalayan Garden with its bridge, stepping stones and Buddhist
Stupa; follow the secret path behind the Walled Garden; and find
the amazing view across to Almscliffe Crag on the North Front.
There's so much to see at Harewood, no two visits are the same!
|
|
|
Penguins,
alpacas + much more
|
|
From exotic species in the Bird
Garden to the grunting, squeaking and bleating residents of the
Farm Experience, kids will be enthralled by our animal friends.
Don't forget to see the Farm Feed at 12pm or the Penguin Feed at
2pm to hear from our keepers.
|
|
Half-term parents and
grandparents deserve a treat, and we've got you covered. The Kiosk
near the Adventure Playground and the Bothy Teahouse by the Walled
Garden are great for hot drinks while you watch the kids race
around, or sit down at the Courtyard Café or Terrace Tearooms
for a proper lunch.

Becoming
the Yorkshire Princess
Until
Sunday 27 February
|
|
This year, we are celebrating the
centenary of HRH Princess Mary’s marriage into the Lascelles
family. Daughter of King George V and Queen Mary, and resident of
Harewood House for over 30 years, Princess Mary married Viscount
Lascelles, later 6th Earl of Harewood, in February 1922.
Becoming the
Yorkshire Princess offers a first-hand insight into
Princess Mary’s early life, up to and including her wedding day.
Through this exhibition, you can explore Mary’s roles as a
daughter, sister, fiancée and wife, offering an intimate glimpse
into some of her closest relationships.
