This weekend from Friday 9th July, 5pm, we've teamed up with Pop-up – Shouk Street Food serving 100% plant based Middle Eastern Feast. Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon.

On Saturday 10th July is the second of our Summer Saturdays showcasing great live music. This evening, a warm welcome to Hazjak featuring Steve Chapman Smith and Lynne O’Malley. Strong harmonies rooted in the folk, Americana, blues and roots genre. 5-7pm in Seven's Courtyard or inside if wet. PWYF.

On Sunday 11th July 1.30pm, look forward to JazzLeeds – Dave Edwards ‘Doomtet’ Bass guitarist Dave Edwards leads a quintet of Leeds finest players. Doors 1.15pm. Tickets £10 full / £8 conc. Tickets in advance only.

Experience the sensation of sound as we uncover how it shapes our everyday lives. Follow the life of a soundwave through the gallery, from creation to being heard. Along the way, there’ll be lots of opportunities for you to stop and listen, then manipulate and play with sound.

Sonic: Adventures in Audio

23 July – 5 December

See the synthesizers that created the ‘sounds of the 80s’, find out how noise cancelling headphones work and delve into the world of sound with exciting new installations and interactive sound works.

Now on at the National Museum of Scotland, The Galloway Hoard: Viking-age Treasure exhibition is your chance to get up close to one of the most important UK archaeological finds of the century.

Buried around AD900, the Galloway Hoard brings together a stunning variety of objects and materials in one discovery. See recently cleaned and conserved objects, revealing intricate details hidden for more than 1,000 years, and explore the cutting-edge research that is uncovering the Hoard’s secrets.

Admission to the exhibition is free with pre-booked museum entry.

Follow the Hoard on tour

The exhibition is at the National Museum of Scotland until Sunday 12 September 2021. It will then tour to Kirkcudbright Galleries (9 October 2021–10 July 2022) and Aberdeen Art Gallery (30 July–23 October 2022), thanks to funding from the Scottish Government.
