Rumi: The Alchemy of Love

A magical and inspirational performance of the 13th-century poet Rumi’s 
The Alchemy of Love, curated by MACFest (Muslim Arts and Culture Festival)
in partnership with the Huddersfield Literature Festival
and presented at Sangam Festival.

At the age of 12, Gulwali Passarlay was sent from Afghanistan after his father was killed in a battle with the United States army. He spent 12 months travelling across Europe, including time in prison, a terrifying journey across the Mediterranean in a tiny boat and a month at a camp in Calais.

Eventually he was fostered in Britain and won a place at a top university. In 2012, he was chosen to carry the Olympic torch. His powerful memoir celebrates the triumph of courage over adversity. A Huddersfield Literature Festival event for Sangam Festival.

A fun, free family activity for the summer holidays!

The Children’s Art School kicks off a series of craft workshops, run as part of Sangam Festival. Our first session is a free drop-in mask-making workshop day, where you can create a creature from the jungles of South Asia.

Open to families with children of all ages, no booking required.

Run by The Children’s Art School for Hudd Lit Fest as part of Sangam Festival.

Suitable for all ages (Under 16s should be accompanied by an adult)
