Creative
Kirklees Newsletter 20 July 2021
|
South Asian Heritage Month runs
from 18 July to 17 August every year and seeks to raise the profile of
British South Asian heritage and history in the UK through education,
arts, culture, and commemoration. Here in Kirklees the Sangam Festival will
be celebrating the month with events and activities which will take place
online, in indoor venues and at outdoor locations across Kirklees.
The
festival has taken over one of the units in the Piazza Shopping Centre in
Huddersfield and you can visit the Sangam Festival Hub
on Wednesday 21 July,
12 – 2pm
to find out more about their exciting programme of events. And don’t miss
out on your ticket to Friday’s event with comedian, Tez Illyas,
who will be talking about his new book: The Secret Diary of a British
Muslim Aged 13¾.
Did you
take part in the WOVEN textile festival in June?
The organisers are keen to hear what you thought of it, how you heard
about it and which events you took part in. Please fill in this
short survey
to tell them your views and as a thank you for taking part you will be
entered into a prize draw to win a £50 voucher.
If you’re
a community group looking for funding to put on an event as part of the
Year of Music 2023 then don’t miss these free workshops
to help guide you in looking for funding and how to apply. The next
sessions are Wednesday 20 July (evening) or Thursday 21 July (daytime).
Groups have been finding them invaluable in helping think about funding –
you can book onto one workshop or join a few.
