Cleckheaton Writers Group met on the 5th of July with Alice, Gemma, Karen and Neil in attendance, Sarah having passed on her apologies.
The minutes from the previous meeting were passed.
WIP updates: Karen has been editing, attended several Simon and Schuster workshops and taken part in Northern Authors Pitch Day on Twitter garnering a like from Genevieve Pegg of HarperNorth for her crime MS which Karen is giving another once over before submitting. Neil has been blogging. Gemma has also been editing and Alice working on some new peices.
CW comps/workshops/events: Gemma informed members about the Nadine Matheson crime mentoring (9 July), Elevate mentoring scheme (21 July deadline), the Curtis Brown Creative breakthrough mentoring programme for disabled writers (19 September deadline) and the HarperFiction Summer Series. The Digital Originals One Day Pitch is on 15 July.
No writing was brought for feedback.
Writing plans: Neil has joined a Paula Readman FB group and hopes to write 4k words by August (minimum 1k), work on his cubby hole short story and plans for his sci-fi novella 'planning 14th Doctor.' Gemma will be editing. Karen will be attending a writing chance workshop with Michael Sheen and editing. Alice will be writing, editing and submitting to the Madeleine Milburn opportunity.
The next meeting will take place on Monday 26 July on Zoom at 5.45pm.
