Cleckheaton Writers Group Christmas Zoom meeting, 14 December 2020

The Cleckheaton Writers Group (CWG) met last night at 5.45pm on Zoom for our Christmas meeting, Alice, Gemma, Sam, Ashley, Martijn, Karen and Neil in attendance, Daniel, Sarah and Andrea having passed on their apologies. Andrea had completed a piece for the Christmas challenge, which we hope to hear at a future meeting.

Martijn and Sam explained to Ashley the sort of writing they do as she had not met them previously, and she told them of her writing journey so far.

The minutes from the last meeting were passed.

WIP updates: Karen informed CWG that she was currently out of the writing mojo but hoped to get back into the groove soon. Alice had risen to the Christmas writing challenge which she agreed to share with the meeting. Gemma and Sam had not done much writing, but had been editing. Martijn, Neil and Ashley had just got back into writing again, Neil on a new dark Christmas tale we hope to hear at CWG soon.

Feedback sessions: Karen shared a couple of chapters from her RC WIP as they had a Christmas theme. These were well recieved and she promised to share another Christmas themed chapter or two at the next meeting. Alice shared her Christmas-themed performance poetry piece which was hilarious. Inspired by Joyce Grenfell's nursery school monologue it was a brilliant take on a nativity rehearsal.

There then followed a discussion on writing plans, including Gemma and Alice sharing that they needed to come up with new titles for their WIPs.

It was agreed that the first CWG meeting of 2021 would take place on Monday 4 January at the usual time on Zoom.

Merry Christmas everyone, and here's to 2021
