Coming up in May, some of the best new theatre is coming out of the auditorium and into a venue near you. Be that a community centre, pub or even a chippy.

Plus, we are doing all we can to help you look your best for Batley Vintage Day, whether it's new dance moves, a glamourous outfit or a rad hairdo you desire, we've got it covered.

Following the successful pub-tour of Early Doors last year, we’re welcoming Alex Elliott of
Unfolding Theatre to the local with their show Best in the World.

One man, three darts, no second chances. A hilarious, heart-warming show about success, darts and personal triumphs.

Get ready for this year's Batley Vintage Day

With the help of Creative Scene you can make sure you are properly suited and booted for this year’s Batley Vintage Day happening on Sat 28 May.

Join us for introductory Lindy Hop dance classes at Healey Community Centre each Wednesday until 18 May from 7:30-9:30pm. No need to book, £5 on the door.

Create your own vintage fashions from recycled materials at Oxfam Online Batley on Sat 21 May from 11am-4pm. Advance booking essential, £10. Book Tickets

Plus, on festival day, we are bringing Total Eclipse of the Head, a mobile hair studio where you choose a soundtrack and hairstyle from the era of your choice!

Grime, Brass, Fish & Chips
We are very excited about bringing #ChipShopTheMusical to Dewsbury for one night only on Tuesday 7 June.

This inventive new musical mixing new and old musical styles will be entertaining audiences in The Sea Urchin, a real fish and chip shop in Dewsbury.

For only £5, you can buy a ticket to the show and a meal of fish & chips too!
One of the Top Picks of Yorkshire Festival, we advise booking early because space is very limited and we expect demand to be high.

Plus, anyone aged 14 - 18, can join writer Emma Hill for a FREE workshop in grime music, beat-making and lyric writing on Tuesday 24 May from 4-6pm at The Cocoa Lounge, Dewsbury. Advance Booking Essential.

Three
A Trio of Fairy Tales this Half Term
Ever noticed how many times in fairytales the number 3 pops up? Well so have Wrongsemble and they’ve made a show about it… which brings to life 3 fairy tales.

Running from 30 May - 3 June Three will be showing at our On Tour venues across North Kirklees: The Northorpe Barn, Healey Community Centre, Batley Bulldogs RLFC, Thornhill Sports & Community Centre and The Venue, Birstall.

Keen to find out what makes our area special our artists Jim Bond, Rozi Fuller and Liz Walker are taking up residence in Brooks Café in Mirfield and Blue Fish in Ravensthorpe, during May and June.

Join them for a cuppa, a chat and try your hand at painting, collage, sculpture and decoupage.

This June, Creative Scene is pleased to bring #ChipShopTheMusical to Dewsbury for one night only. This inventive new musical mixes UK grime music with traditional Yorkshire brass and it all takes place in a real fish and chip shop!  You can see a short trailer about the show here:

As part of the show, the writer, Emma Hill will be offering a FREE workshop for local young people aged 14-18 who are interested in site specific theatre, as well as writing their own lyrics inspired by their own experiences.  This one off session will be taking place on Tues 24th May from 4-6pm at Cocoa Lounge in Dewsbury town centre.
